Volunteer

Our PTA programs are run entirely by volunteers and we can always use more help! There is absolutely no experience required – just some free time and enthusiasm for contributing to our school community.

How You Can Become a Volunteer in PUSD

Everyone who volunteers at a PUSD school needs to be registered as a volunteer. Because your gift of time is valuable, contact our school’s Community Assistant to complete the volunteer application and to complete the child health and safety clearances.  You will need to complete an application, read the orientation handbook, provide proof of tuberculosis clearance and be cleared on the Megan’s Law database at minimum. These tests help us keep all our students safe and healthy.

If you are interested in helping with any of our events, please email us or complete the Volunteer Interest Form.

Working in the Classroom: One of the most valuable ways to support your child’s learning is to volunteer in the classroom. Each teacher has their own way of using parent volunteers, from assisting in the classroom, to copying homework packets, to leading art projects. Please be sure to contact your child’s teacher to learn how you can help.
Room Parents: The role of Room Parent varies from class to class depending on the teacher. Typically, the Room Parent organizes class parties, holiday activities, and coordinates parent volunteers for special projects, events or field trips. The Room Parent is also a critical liaison between teachers and parents for many PTA functions, such as the Mid Autumn Festival, Jog-a-thon and other programs
